Flagler Beach Creates is a division of Flagler Strong and the brainchild of local architect Joseph Pozzuoli.  He saw a need to create an organization to showcase Flagler Beach’s creative vibe by artistically sprucing up the city to encourage visitors to support our wonderful array of shops and restaurants.

Our group designed public parking signs to add an artistic element and to educate visitors about our five free parking opportunities. We painted the front of the Flagler Beach Historical Museum to draw attention to what serves as an information center for the city.  Recently we were awarded a grant from The Home Depot to allow for adding a splash of color to city hall.

In order to continue to support the city, Flagler Beach Creates has to fund-raise.  Our local business owners and real estate brokers tell us that October is notoriously a slow month on the Island.  In response, Flagler Beach Creates has dedicated our fundraising efforts to attract visitors to the city the entire month of October by hosting the following events in Flagler Beach.

Scarecrow Festival  Participating businesses, nonprofits and government entities will have the opportunity to create and display a scarecrow from October 1 through November 1.  The Flagler Beach Creates’ design team will be available to create and build business-specific scarecrows for a nominal fee.  All participants will be included on a map listing the businesses and scarecrow names along with their addresses.  The goal is to drive traffic directly to each sponsor’s door while generating funds to grow our organization.  There will be a contest for Best Scarecrow.

Family Day  We will host family day at the Farmers Market on October 14 with Pumpkin Bowling, an Educational Pavilion featuring a schedule of presentations that includes the Flagler Beach Library story hour, Lori Ottlein from the Turtle Patrol and a 4-H Discovery Center to introduce families residing in the eastern part of the county with the many enriching programs 4-H has to offer.

Dog Costume Contest   Flagler Beach Creates is hosting our 1st Annual Howl-O-Ween fundraising event at the Farmers Market on October 21 starting at 9:00 AM.  Furry friends will parade around the park to show off their costumes.  There will also be a demonstration by the Flagler County Sheriff’s K9 Unit, dog training tips, best costume awards and a host of other activities.

Witches of Flagler Beach Bike Ride  We will host our 2nd annual Witches of Flagler Beach Bike Ride where locals will dress in their best witch-wear and extravagantly decorated brooms (bikes) as they take flight on a journey around the city on October 28.

Join Flagler Beach Creates’ largest fundraiser of the year and drive traffic directly to your business during the entire month of October.  Our goal is to grow the Scarecrow event annually to brand Flagler Beach as October’s fun destination.  Questions?  Phone 561-716-7397 or email FlaglerStrongFBC@gmail.com.
